So I found a small slug in the garden yesterday, and I decided I would try putting it in w. the baby asperas to see how slug-keeping was.. I checked on them a few minutes ago and I cant find the slug anywhere. Theres no way it could have gotten out-- the babies are in a big plastic tub that's completely escape-proof.. And I looked all over, checked under the soil, in all the hides.. It is totally gone. So. I was wondering.. However horrific, could the baby snails have.. eaten it?? I have absolutly no clue where that slug might be.. lol.. Thanks, maya

there is a chance that the babies could have eaten it. my garlic snail ate 2 other garlic snails i had. is there any holes that the slug could have squized out of?

Not that I know of-- only the air ventilation holes, and even my smallest aspera baby cant get out-- and this slug was much bigger that that.. Wow.. They're not so innocent anymore.. Yucky..

The Garlic Snail is a known predator but I'm surprised h aspersa would do this.

I had an aspersa that ate a slug. The same thing happened as with you: I put the slug in the snail tank, and within 48 hours there was no sign of it. It was a three-band garden slug (Lehmannia valentiana), and there was no way it could have escaped. I was surprised that an aspersa would consume it, but there is no other explanation.

I wonder if snails eat slugs in the wild?

i guess time will tell if the snails didnt eat the slug, but if the slug doesnt turn up, then i guess we only have one conclusion.

sorry to bring up a kinda old thread but i put some garden snails in with Jamel (my garden slug) and withing about 2 hours he was gone, i have literally turned the tank upside down but i can not find him anywhere, so, have they eaten him? was the slug ever found or are aspersas preditors of them? omg i hope he has just escaped somehow! but i kinda think that he has been eaten

I'm still very doubtful that aspersa eat slugs(that is alive ones).......

Me and my friend went out for a walk yesterday, we found some nasty group of ants eating the what was the remains of an Aspersa.

I see that often in my garden. Snails that stray onto the sidewalk get stepped on, and sooner or later the ants descend on the remains. Terrestrial leeches will also dispose of the remains, but only if it is in a cool, protected place.
