New to the forum too - I'm Lisa, I think *some* of you might know me from Fancy Rats ;D I'm looking for info and advice for a new owner - we dont have our snails yet (let down several times by someone who apparently had some - not online), but we have the tank etc. This is only a tentative enquiry in case that person (gets off their bum and) gets in touch. We were wondering, with all these different types of GALS, are any of them harder to care for than others? I know it's unlikely that we'll find any of the more unusual varieties - but it would be nice to know if it was possible. I've been looking into their care, and came across all the different varieties - varicosa being a very pretty one (but presumably very hard to find!) amongst many others. Where would somebody go to get their first pair of snails if they were looking for a more unusual type than fulicas (nothing wrong with them of course!)? Thanks for your help and hello ;D

welcome to the forum.
You can get many species of snail from people on here or cybersnail just ask if there are any snails available and people will reply
tiger snails are meant to be harder to keep
your right varicosa is pretty hard to come by

Hi Lisa Welcome to pet snails The only ones that are a little harder to care for are tigers. Though mine are doing fine and I do nothing different for them, than I do my others. But I have been advised I'll need a heat mat come winter. You are correct Varicosa are near on impossible to find. None of the members here (or cyber snail) have them But there are plenty of beautiful species that are available (maybe not right now, but come up fairly often) I bought my first 2 pairs from Paul (the 'boss' haha) and Mike another member here. I would definatly buy from on here, you know you can ask as many questions as you want about their care. Before AND after you recieve them. Enjoy the forum Nat

Hi Lisa, welcome to the forum. Yes I agree with Nat, if you get your snails from somebody here you can be sure that they are healthy and also you can have them as babies if you want.
