You left too soon. I'll upload a picture soon. Garnet, every day I'll always remember you. We all will.

It's okay...Garnet was an old man, and so are Jewel and Gemma, the two Zachrysia provisoria I got him with. There was a fourth, Topaz, but he died early this month. Those four must have been old when I got them eight months or so ago.

R.I.P Garnet. He had good and safe last months of an old snail's life with you.

Thanks for the support, guys. It's sad because I had the four zachrysia provisoria for about 8 months now. Well of course as I said Topaz and Garnet passed away in August, and I've noticed that Gemma has started to get slower and slower...Jewel might be too, but she's always been lazy, but she does eat a lot and do a lot when she puts her mind to it. Since day one, Garnet and Gemma were bonded and Jewel and Topaz were bonded so both the girls haven't been too happy. Actually, the night before Garnet died, I did see Garnet go behind the plastic wood decoration in the tank and just kinda sit there on the wall of the tank. Jacob, one of my rescued Neohelix Albolabris, was following him around and stayed on the wall next to him that night. I think he knew what was coming...I'm sure Garnet died peacefully with good old Jacob by his side, although I wish it was Gemma. She seems so confused right now and I hope she doesn't die.

Aw I hate it when snails lose a friend. Make sure Gemma sees Garnet's empty shell, though she might still mourn. I'm glad Jacob was there for Garnet. It's so nice how snaily friendship so often goes past their differences. I've had very different Giant snails look after each other like that.

Etana, I might show it to Gemma, but the shell smells like death. Puke literally rose in my mouth when I sniffed it, LOL. I washed the shell with soap and water, but obviously it still smells and it's in a ziploc bag in the garage right now. Should I just hold it near her face and then put it away? I don't want my snailies touching it I don't think.

Well I have usually showed my snails their deceased friends' well-washed shells that don't have the smell of death anymore. It's, uh, quite hard to do otherwise, I know. I've held it in front of them until they've paid attention and then turned away by themselves. Usually there will be patting, one curious young snail put his head deep into the bigger friend's empty shell and looked and patted around. I'll never forget one poor dear though who patted his friend's empty shell, then made a really unhappy face and instantly burrowed, and he never was the same again. I felt so bad. Let us know what happens.
