I have managed to identify my sons snails with help of this site.. we have 3 Achatina Fulica. and 440-450 babies from 2 clutches!! please could anyone help with the best size or age to rehome the little ones ;D we have a few people who are interested but i don't want to pass them on too soon.. they were born on 6th and 7th june 2007 and are thriving.. ;D thank you..

I would say they'll be fine to rehome in a couple of weeks. The fact that your snails are breeding is indicative of good care, however Fulica in general are extremely common now and rehoming that many may be difficult.
Also inbreeding is a problem and Fulica, again in general, are becoming weaker/smaller/more prone to health problems than they were a few years ago. It may be a good idea to gently advise the new owners of this and to encourage them to not let them breed.
I', not trying to tell you what you should and shouldn't do but many snail keepers do agree on this.
I decided to freeze the eggs that I find as most of mine are rescue snails in particularly poor shape! However, due to being busy recently I didn't check for eggs and when I noticed them they were already hatching! Too late for the freezer. Mine are now a few weeks old and are healthy and lovely, again I have homes for a few but I recon I'll be lumbered with most of them. Oooops. Good luck with yous xx

thanks for that ness... well we have cut the collection down to 50 now for the friends that want them. the others have gone to a mate who sells all sorts of reptiles and odd creatures... i thought i would keep 50 incase of any miss-haps, although they all seem to be thriving.. when we give the snails to our friends we will be printing of a care sheet and one part of that is dedicated to 'disposal of eggs' rather than getting caught out with hundreds of new editions.. . my son has also done a page on his web site all about the snails so there is lots of reference for people.. thanks again sharmayne.xx
