i'm so sad that this is my first post on this site but my snails are in real trouble and i don't know what to do, or if it's too late already.
so after realizing one of my snails had torn its mantle (i have 2 snails), i figured buying some liquid calcium would help it heal faster. so yesterday i poured it into the normal water and instantly the slime coming out of them was unlike anything i'd ever seen. i thought foolishly that meant they were enjoying it. i started to get worried when, after a few hours, they had stayed in place and retracted into their shells but i figured they were just sleeping. the next day i checked on them and they shrank like 5 times their original size, you could literally see into shells, they were totally grey and almost rocky looking texture on their skin. i realized i put too much calcium in the water and possibly killed them. in a last attempt to save them we've been leaving them in pure water and switching it every few hours when the water starts to yellow. they're still slimy but stiff and unresponsive.
do any of you think that it's possible they can purge themselves of the calcium and survive? is there anything that can be done or are we too late? please help... my family loves these snails so much....

Are these aquatic snails or land snails?
If the bodies are stiff and don't respond at all to touch then I'm afraid they are likely to be dead. With land snails, the bodies will start to smell very bad after a day or two which is a surefire way to tell if they're dead. I'm not sure if it's the same with aquatic snails.

unfortunately NO. we had to call it officially a few days ago, but i forgot to update you all here. i just hope they weren't in pain. i wish snails weren't so fragile. there's almost nothing that can once they get hurt
