I have two garden snails and I made them a mini christmas tree out of douglas fir clippings and hot glue. I haven't put it in their tank yet. I soaked the tree in warm water and vinegar in an effort to remove pesticides from the pieces and rinsed it afterwards, but I have a feeling this might not be safe. Is it?

I wouldn't put something with exposed glue into a snail tank as they may rasp on it and ingest some. Also I'm not sure about douglas fir but some pine/fir trees can have sap which may be irritating to a snail's sensitive skin. Perhaps you could put it in a pot just outside the tank as decoration instead? Or you might be able to find an artificial plant (like those used in reptile tanks) that resembles a Christmas tree to put inside the tank.

I think that is just the cutest idea tho (it's the thought that counts, I believe) even if it isn't safe lol. I agree that it might not be safe but I thank you for sharing that you did that for your snails cuz it makes my heart smile

I just think that's really getting into the Christmas Spirit!! Thank you. I really enjoy working with plants and wood. I recently made them a tiny shack out of cedar planks.
