a few days ago i gave my friend a small dimidiata (about 4cm) and now the snails gotten fat! the mantle is protruding from the edge of the shell, and the snail is not moving much and seems sluggish. the other snail i gave her is doing fine. whats going on? how will the problem be sorted? does the snail just need more cuttlefish?

One of my bigger fulica seems to be fat as well. It appears to be like it's shell not growing, but it body still is.

thats what happened to one of my dimidiata when he fell into the water dish and couldn't get out i found him lying there and his body had blown up like that i guess from absorbing too much water and he couldn't move, it went down a bit over night but he died :-(

I think swelling can be caused by too much humidity for too long, food blockage in the bowels (pasta, millet) or as a reaction to some chemicals. Multi-vit/water made too strong caused some awful swelling on contact with the body that went down immediately when I washed it off. But it wasn't localised, the whole body swelled up. Could any of that be the cause?

Well, one of my fulica has a swollen mantle, not by that much but still a bit swollen. The breathing hold looks as if it's closed or only just open. Compared to the other snails breathing holes which are open. The swollen snail is active and does eat but I just don't know why it is like that....

Its not carrying eggs is it? That may cause a little bit of swelling. I've never noticed it in Achatinidae but my Megalobulimus got really bloated before laying: The snail was so bloated, the Pneumostome (air hole) hardly opened to breathe so I couldn't actually see the eggs. It could hardly move. But about 4 or 5 days later it laid two massive eggs. We know Achatininae can lay lots and lots of eggs so it's a possibility if the snail seems otherwise fine.

Yes, that was how it looked about 2 weeks ago. It isn't as swollen as that now but as for the breathing hole, that is still the same. It never opens much and always looked closed.
