a better way to explain his shell growth is outwards instead of down it is almost horazontal instaed of being vertical

Breaks, chips and cracks are known to cause growth problems and mutations. Like scalariform shells etc. It certainly sounds like something like that. Arno's right, we need pictures to be able to advise.
The shell may even need breaking back to the point of the deformity, if that is possible. I wouldn't like to advise that until I saw the pictures but if it was me and the shell was looking like it would cause a real problem for the snail, I'd consider it.

On my mums phone you take the pic, then goto send a message and add a pic to it, then when you chose the contact you can chose the email address instead of the number. Helps if it's already on programmed on there though.. but your phone is probably different lol.

Well the pics might not be good but it is a lot clearer now whats going on.The new growth is a bit like the rim of a hat ,right? It might be some kind of genetic thing in which case breaking of the growth won't help.If it doesn't bother the snail and he is healthy I would leave it like it is for the time being.

One of my snail's shells also seem to be growing at a slight angle, but not as bad. I think mine has been caused by a sudden growth spurt after a long period of time where the shell hasn't grown.
