Hiya all Got a problem with 1 of my margies shells. It has always had a problem with eating, although its hugely improved recently. He eats plenty of cuttlefish so I'm sure its not that. I've noticed his columella is different to the rest of my snails though and wonder if its irritating him. Its very hard to explain so I've taken the best picture I can. Its as if he has an extra bit. Its from the very end of the lip and goes down to bottom of the columella... I think! You can't see the columella though because of it. Any opinions appreciated. Thanks alot Nat

If it was irritating him, I wonder if his skin would shows signs of irritation. If his skin looks fine then I would assume that he is also fine.

Sometimes you get abnormal growth if there has been a break of shell-lip damage.
As for the patches on the shell, I have a stuhlmanni like that, the shell looks pretty crusty. But it has loads of cuttlefish, vitamin-enriched food and plenty of variety. Its sibling kept in the same tank is fine. So, it may be a genetic thing.

Theres no extra bit just hasnt grown perfectly in that particular area. if hes growing at a normal rate there should be nothing to worry about.
