I was hoping a snail was carrying eggs so I will have small snails soon for Billy who is a Hygromia cinctella and won't get much bigger and won't end up in the big tank. So I wanted some company for Billy, as the baby snail (of my last hatching) is getting bigger and might move to the big tank over a month maybe.
But Spike laying eggs was the last one I was expecting it from. As Spike, a Cepaea nemoralis, tried to mate with Lary, a Cornu aspersum, and got rejected several times!
Spike laid a whooping 85 eggs! Anybody who wants some baby Cepaea nemoralis and lives in The Netherlands? Otherwise when they have hatched I will gradually let them get used to the colder temperatures and set them free where I found Spike. Of course when they have gotten some calcium and nutrition! I will keep 1 baby snail for the small tank c:

Belgium here, close but not close enough. Otherwise I'd take 1 or 2 as company for my own Cepaea Nemoralis (she has 3 Helix Aspersa and 1 Clausilia as company).

85? Dang! And to think the maximum they could lay at once was 80! 🤣
