Hi. I'm Gale, I don't have any pet snails (just two obnoxious dogs). I joined because I have been working on a series of slug sculptures and am looking for suggestions for interesting species to do. I try to work realistically and life sized, so have mercy on me (nothing too tiny) If you would like to see some of the ones I have already done there are pictures on etsy under BugduJourByGale. I would also welcome critiques on those.

I absolutely love your art! You are very talented. Personally, I think sculpting a Cepaea hortensis would be nice, as they have very beautiful banded shells.

Thank you for your feedback! I just posted photos of the Cepaea on etsy. I also did a Cuban land snail and a Partula faba. The shells are definitely challenging, need to keep practicing 😉. Any other suggestions?

I just looked at your sculptures on Etsy. Those are amazing! I can't believe how realistic they look.

Thank you, I finished a couple of semislugs and an Indrella as well. What cool species should I still do? Interesting behavior? Color morphs?

Indrella ampulla, Lissachatina fulica, Achatina achatina, Liguus fasciatus, and Caracolus marginella are some pretty cool species.

Indrella is up, and I just finished a Euglandina and a Liguus virgineus. They are both on etsy under"snails and slugs for the discerning malacologist"
Are there any morphological differences between L virgineus and L fasciatus? Or would I be able to cast the one I've got and paint the differences?

I have an Etsy shop too! I love your sculptures, very realistic! You should sculpt a Flamed Tigersnail (Anguispira alternata), I keep this species. I have noticed this species likes very deep substrate as they love to dig. Keep up the great work!
