Hi there, I just wanted to show you my snails. It all started out with Plumeau. He is a Helix aspersa whom I found as a youngster on an outside stairs. I picked him up to put him out of the way so he would not get crushed, but his house was very fragile and it broke between my fingers. I knew 1 person who kept garden snails and decided to keep him until he was better, asking this person for advice. His ice cream box became a plastic container/terrarium and in the end he just stayed. I got Citronella and Draco months later from a colleague who apparently held snails too and Brother came a month or 2 later as a youngster. There were 4 others too, but they died quickly. For my birthday I got a real glass terrarium from my parents, big but very good surprise! And in the meanwbile Plumeau and Brother have been "dating" and I ended up with loads of eggs. I have frozen a bunch of eggs, having been told by breeders that is the most humane way to destroy them. But I kept a couple too. Anyhow, here are the pictures! This picture shows part of my glass terrarium. On the bottom you see from left to right: Plumeau (Helix aspersa) Brother (Helix aspersa) Citronella (Cepaea nemoralis) Draco (Clausilia) And here you see a picture of the babies when I just discovered they had hatched. It is taken with a strong macro lens on my camera. These are baby Helix aspersa.

Your Clausilia is BEAUTIFUL! (I'd love one, but they aren't so available in my area) We're currently in the same boat: somehow when I kept only 25 eggs I somehow had around 45 hatch! I now have my 3 original snails, as well as around 60 or so babies!
