Fredrik, I never said you were wrong to be offended, I said that I was sure it wasn't meant as an insult. I agree with initially working out whether you've (as in snail owner not breeder) done something wrong is the first action - that goes without saying. But if I was at a loss, and was keeping them properly, I'd ask others if they'd had any problems firstly. Sarah was only answering Mike, and I'm certain Mike didn't mean to start a "let's blame Fredrik" fan club - which was the meaning of my last post. If I'd come online and found someone posting about an animal I'd bred, I'd be a bit narked, but I'd check what they meant by it before getting angry and posting an ourburst in reply. If you had have been a stranger to us, it would make you look like you were hiding something. Now I know that's not true, you know that's not true, Sarah and Mike know that's not true - so why the big hoo-ha? It's much better to take a breather and come back when you're calm

Ok, lol we don't want this thread to turn in to an argument. We all misunderstand what people are saying sometimes. As said before, it is very difficult to put a point across on the internet the way you actually mean it. Wait a minute! If I am mentioned in a thread, I would appreciate if someone could notify me Ok, firstly, I'm not arguing now, just putting my opinion. I think it is your job, fredrik, to look on the forum. I doubt people here are going to tell you, "Oh she said this about you, he said that..." That may come across as telling tales there. We don't have a duty lol to notify you on such things. Please, don't take this the wrong way, in my opinion, looking at new threads is down to you.

-"My point is that I would like to be notified when something is wrong with animals sold by me. I don't wan't to find out about it, going through threads..."
And as I said earlier in the same thread, there are reason why I'm not visiting the forum frequently today. So I have a hard time to stay updated, even if I would like to...
It's all about proper manners....

I agree with you on that bit Fredrik, but just wanted to point out that I'm sure no offense or blame was meant.

I don't think there's any need for that Sarah. I completely agree with Fredrik that you shouldn't be implying that it's his fault on a public board until you have exhausted all other avenues and causes for the illness (like your regular parasite problems etc) and that it would be considered good manners at the very least to contact him first. I see you are now implying similar on the general board about someone else. I hoped you'd learn some tact from what's happened here. However, putting it all aside, I do hope you find out what's causing your snails to fall ill, and that they recover. Now you've ruled out Fredrik as being to blame, maybe another answer will slot into place. Good luck with them

I keep in touch with Fredrik and I know that this isn't the only factor inr him leaving for now, he has other stuff occupying his life right now and I suppose he couldn't be arsed with what was going on. I know he understands what transpired was not aimed at him, but I do understand where the initial upset came from. He'll be back, I'm sure of it I hope so, because it is people like Fredrik who helped me immensely when I started keeping snails and making the website. He has a very healthy interest and knowledge in many areas and he keenly got involved with areas of research I tried to get into. We've had very lengthy conversations about care and I know he is always looking to improve his own care, to find exactly what his animals require. It's something he is obessive about and that is highly commendable so I know why he was a little upset that the thread could suggest he could be to blame in someway, however casual. He's also decided not to concentrate on Achatinids so that is bound to be a factor as well. I'm sure when he's on top form and the snail bug bites again he'll be back. You can't keep the crazy swede down ;D There's been more bickering than usual on this forum, and that gets me down. I truly hope that this isn't the reason for us losing him and others, I've noticed less visits from other prominent members but I don't know what is going on in their lives currently. Perhaps some people think I should step in more often but the forum is for the members and I don't like censoring people's posts unless absolutely necessary, plus doing so would only give things more weight and interest. I just hope that people have thick skins for the odd time things get a little crazy. As we've said before, it is hard to read posts as they were intended and sometimes things can come across a little blunt. I know I'm guilty of that in the past. It is to be remembered by all that everyone using the forum in my experience is here to help. We would all do well to assume that to be the case first before getting upset by a dodgy or uninformed post.

Surely you could know that that remark sounded very unfriendly with or without winks. The best thing you could have said was..nothing

I know this is kinda unrelated, but if ur snail is on heat mat its very advisable to have a thermostat. All my snakes have these as heatmats and ceramic heaters can reach very high temps which can cause a lot of problems. plus (im sure everyone knows this ) u shud always put the heat mat on the outside of the tank. In a moist enviroment a heatmat cud easily cause electricution. Even my sister's sea monkeys have a stated heatmat! lol Emma

Well, at least that changed the subject... Remember to put heat mats on the side of the tank and not on the underside.
