I found this bright orange Arion fuscus curled up in a lump in a hosta plant in my backyard in the cold and took him in. I named him Alpha Slug because he was the biggest slug I've found in my backyard since i started looking this fall. Here he is checking out his new home! Also here's a quick video! youtu.be/HE4qS2tR9sI(The videos sped up) These types of slugs are actually slower than most.

He's SO pretty! Reminds me of a mango or some sort of gemstone.

He's SO pretty! Reminds me of a mango or some sort of gemstone. Thank you! This is the first time I've kept a The only thing unfortunate is that they usually only live for 8-12 months & die several days after they reproduce. Last night Alpha Slug laid a bunch of eggs! I'm hoping he'll hold up though 🤞🏻 I've got my fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed! are you going to keep the eggs?

I will, thank you for the advice! He really loves cucumbers so I mainly feed him that..If he does pass away due to sexual maturity, it's just the natural process of life so unfortunately there's nothing I'd be able to do about it. But hopefully he'll last.. I actually have a bunch of slugs right now and I have been saving their eggs..I've been keeping them moist in a small container & I'm unsure what I want to do with them, I'm thinking of burying them in my yard. I read that they won't hatch until the conditions are right so they would be safe.

I love his colour. He's a very pretty slug. Thank you! Unfortunately he passed away last week after laying his last batch of eggs..I live in New Jersey and their life cycle here is from August to late fall so I've only been able to care for these guys for a short time. It's been getting really cold recently and there's a snow storm today, so for the past week I collected the rest of his Arion Fuscus family from my backyard and brought them inside and made them a Slug Mansion to stay in lol..So I have 6 slug buddies living in it so at least they can live out the rest of their lives fed/warm inside of freezing to death.
