woohoo i just recently became a lover of snails even though i was always a fan. i am a garden fanatic and i was digging around my catnip trying to catch whoever was nibbling on it. i discovered snail in the process of laying eggs right in the roots. no no... this will not do. i spent the whole day creating a mini maternity ward for sneopatra (snail cleopatra), where she could finish laying her eggs. somewhere other than my garden. this as several weeks ago, the eggs are about to hatch. i have since then begun collecting all of the snails in the garden and transferring them to the compost pile! they are very happy with the feast. i am very happy to have less holes chewed in all my leaves. it's a win/win. i have also been caring for the largest and prettiest of the snails as pets. as an artist having subjects that can hold still is a great bonus! snails are beautiful and under-appreciated creatures. i have enjoyed studying and documenting their behavior and getting better practice at figure drawing on a small scale!

These are all so beautiful, my gosh. And what you’re doing with your garden snails sounds lovely as well.
