My past few weeks of searching for a Euglandina rosea have turned up a surprising discovery of Euglandina texasiana, a snail I did not even consider might have been the owner of the past few shell discoveries! (I was unaware that it existed, actually.) At roughly 8:00 AM, after rain had just stopped, I decided to go back to the field and ponds where having discovered shells previously. After about 15 minutes of searching, I finally found one under a wooden board. Stupid me had an umbrella in case rain starts up, but no camera in case the snail was found so I headed back and brought it, along with a plastic container to later bring the snail home to photograph. Following that, I filmed this video: After collecting the snail into a container, I spent about an hour and a half looking around for a second cannibal snail, with no luck. Only herbivorous and omnivorous snails were out and about in the open. I brought back the snail, and took some photos of it (that's also when I had looked up the snail properly to discover it's proper species ID.) Here are also two photos for size reference of this snail. One with measuring tape (using inches), and one with a standard AA battery: Finally, here is a short video of the snail crawling around the lid of a jar: I will still be looking for further glossy wolf snails, but until then, any future photos and videos will be of this one which I have named Thanos.
