They're all lovely. I'm forever jealous of people with aquatic snails. Do you keep anything else in the tank with the aquatic snails?

Snails get along with most fish (as long as it’s a fish that doesn’t eat snails like pea puffers). Freshwater shrimp do great with snails (they have pretty much the same diet). I used to have some shrimp, but unfortunately my Betta likes shrimp so he ate them.

If you are really interested in aquatic snails, they are just like keeping fish except you feed them blanched vegetables or algae wafers instead regular fish food (it’s not like they wouldn’t eat regular fish food though, most of my snails eat just about anything, it’s just not the most nutritionally balanced diet and probably wouldn’t provide enough plant mater and calcium).

I definitely hope to one day when I've got somewhere to put the tank. It's good to hear they don't sound more tricky to care for than land snails. And they come in such beautiful colours, like your striped mystery snails are just stunning.

I know, they are even more gorgeous in person (a lot of character too). The only reason they are just a little bit more complex then land snails is because you have to keep the your water chemistry in line or they won’t do well. If you are planning on getting them someday, definitely read up on the nitrogen cycle. The number one mistake most people make is not learning about the nitrogen cycle (it may sound a little complex when you first read about it, but it’s really pretty simple).

does anybody elses helixs sleep upside down? My helix aspersa always sleep on the side or top of the tank, upside down! All of your snails are adorable! I’m raising some baby snails too and am thinking about aquatic snails.

Cool! Aquatic snails are awesome, I would highly recommend mysteries for pets (lots of character and fun, they have a whole lot of expression and make great pets), for algae control you want nerites though, nothing can down algae like nerites.

Babies! Adorable! Hope the baby with the crack in the shell fixes itself as its shell grows bigger. Did you find it with the crack, or has it had a fall? They will just randomly let go of where they're climbing up... My aspersas always sleep on the side or top of their tank too. Only time I ever see them on the substrate for an extended period is when they're laying eggs, so I get a heads up to do an egg collection

Actually, sorry the the previous post was a little confusing, but the one with the cracked shell is actually an adult. My sister was caregiving at an elderly ladies house and the lady had a big garden with a bunch of snails so my sister brought a handful home to me and some of them where older and some where babies. They all have very weak/soft shells that are very worn but have been improving by the day (boiled carrots and cuttlebone does wonders) She brought home 12 snails so in total I have 13 land snails (4 of which are babies).
The one with the cracked shell is doing very well, the crack had been healing and she seems healthy.
Also, they did lay eggs, not sure if I want to keep those or not, I would love to but I am a little bit tight on space so I may not be able to.

Snail pile for the squash (I have an arrow pointing to my original snail who I’ve had the longest, I just call him helix, and the funny thing is I named him that before I found out what his scientific name is, I named him that because of the definition of the word) This is the injured one and more photos of them all just cause I love how each one has a slightly different pattern on it.

The spot on her shell is rough, but she is very well healed up. I would post some pics, but my snails are all in their deep sleep for the winter right now. They still come out to eat on the warm days, but they are very slow and I don’t see them much anymore, they mostly stay buried in the leaf litter.

I was wondering how you're supposed to take care of them in winter. Do you mist their house daily, or only on warm days? How often do you leave food? Mine haven't burrowed yet, but I'm wondering what I'm supposed to do if they do.

I just filled the enclosure a third the way up with soft soil, then put a thick layer of leaf litter. I have a water bowl of fresh water and a turned over pot that’s mostly filled for them to hide in. I don’t feed them super often, but if I see any out and about I drop some boiled veggies in, they don’t need a lot of food at this time though. The most I’ve seen out is 2 at a time (I have 12), they mostly sleep. His is my first time wintering snails so I’m not to sure of what I’m doing myself.

I'll probably do the same as you're doing.
