Title for this thread says a lot. I'm a communications major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and I'm creating a documentary as my Directed Project before I graduate. I'm hoping to use this forum as a resource to help with research and getting tips, because none of the biology professors here know anything about land snails!
For the time being, I need help with two things.
1. I would really, really like to find a Rosy Wolfsnail to get some footage of. Looking them up shows that they do naturally occur in Tennessee, but I don't know where. I'm assuming they would be somewhere in southern Tennessee, since their territory originates in Florida, but I'd like to know if anyone knows anything more specific.
2. Are their any snail owners in Tennessee or northern Georgia or Alabama who I can meet with? It would be a good segment for the doc to talk about the snail keeping subculture and how US laws make it harder to own them.

That actually helped me a lot. I got in contact with the UTK professor who wrote the article and the west Nashville homeowner.

I live in TN myself. I don't have any terrestrial snails (yet!) but I keep mystery and aquatic snails. Hoping to find some grove snails soon though. Not sure if there's anything I can help with, but I love snails and I've lived in TN all my life. If there's anyway I can help, just let me know.

I'm actively looking for several species. Hopefully this spring I can find them, if not sooner with how much it's been raining. Trying to go the legal route and I don't know any sellers in TN so I'm hunting for them myself. Just yesterday I found patera appressa and ventridens arcellus and I'm considering keeping some. The snail hunt has been strong over here. And if I documentary can being awareness to some of the legal struggles of keeping snails, I'd be willing to help however possible.

I started out with wild caught snails. Snails in the genus Mesodon are all over the state and they're a fairly large size and not endagered in any way, so they make excellent pets!
