I have one kept alone in a tank with two snails from a different species. I forgot to catch it a friend before I left Houston. Is there any chance it could reproduce asexually? I can't find any information on the reproductive habits of this species. I know that generally, most snails have both 'parts', but I'd like to know if he could. I noticed a while ago, it started growing a lip in its' shell, and there's a little white bump / sort of oval shape underneath its' skin on the right side of its body, near the eyes. It protrudes slightly, like a pimple that hasn't come to a head. What could that be? I only noticed it since he started growing into an adult snail. It doesn't move or grow, and it wasn't there before.

Hi snerdahmik, as far as I know, Bradybaena similaris can't reproduce asexually, but self-fertilization is possible (a special form of sexual reproduction, without a partner). The "little white bump" you are talking about should be the genital opening. It's (normally) on the right side just behind the head. We can see this opening while the snail reaches puberty. So anything is all right. Kind regards: wolf
