I really didn’t know where to post this, so I have posted it here.
Today, when I was going to work, I came across a lot of stepped on snails.
One that I saw was still alive, with its shell completely crushed, hanging on its life, suffering. I could feel its pain. It was completely unsaveable, so I decided to end its suffering. But even if I know it’s better for it I still feel like a murderer and I am really sad.
Please watch where you step, people! Of course sometimes you accidentally step on something, but I see every year more and more stepped on snails / rainworms / etc. so please, take care of our poor defenseless sweeties, try not to step on them and if you see one on the street, pick it up and put it into a safe place. It’s incredible how some people pay this little attention to them.

Very sad. Slugs/snails/rainworms are some of the most innocent and vulnerable creatures I can imagine. People are so trashy. I think it was nice of you to end the poor creature's pain. It would probably suffer for much longer, unless a bird or an animal saw it as an easy prey.

Every time I come across a snail on the pavement, I scoop it up and carry it in the direction it’s heading if the area has high foot traffic.
