Hi, we live in Wellington, New Zealand. My 8 year old has a Oxychilus draparnaudi (we think) that has laid some eggs. How do we look after them and how do we know if they are fertile? There's no good way to check if the eggs are fertile as far as I know apart from waiting to see if they develop. Caring for eggs is usually done in two ways: either leaving the eggs where they are in the adult tank and maintaining the humidity etc as normal, or very carefully moving the eggs with the surrounding soil into a smaller container and then attempting to maintain roughly the same conditions as the adult tank - not too damp, not too dry, not too warm and not too cold. Once they hatch, the baby snails will stay buried for some time while they eat and digest their eggshells, and they will eventually make their way to the surface one by one - you can provide some food and calcium at this point if they don't already have it.

We have at least one baby! Some of the eggs look clear and some white. We are waiting to see if more hatch and have removed the mother to a different habitat in case she eats them...
