Hi folks, I thought I ought to make an intro thread.
I'd never had an interest in snails before, but while doing some gardening in the recent hot weather I found an aspersa snail on the side of my house in the baking sun. I was worried he might not be able to survive, so I set it up in a box with some damp soil. I saw that the weather was due to stay dry and hot for weeks and figured I couldn't possibly put him back out there at least until it rained. So I accidentally ended up with a pet snail!
I've fallen quite in love with the little cutie pie(who is now named David), and have been combing through both here and the Supersnails forum for care information. I, uh, don't think I'll be putting him back out when it finally rains. I'd miss him.
David-
A few days ago I adopted a cepaea nemoralis I found in aestivation on the path, partly to protect her from being squashed and partly because I thought my aspersa may appreciate the company. She soon woke up once she realised she was now in a cooler, damp environment with plenty of food, so once her quarantine is over I'll put her in with David. I've named her Goliath.
My friend tells me I'm going to become a crazy snail lady. I can't wait.

Hello! Welcome, fellow newbie!
Oh my gosh, they're so adorable!!! I would love to be dubbed the "crazy snail lady", haha. I'm assuming that you're the only one (of your friends) that has a pet snail or has gotten into snails? If you are, I'm in that boat as well.

Yep, I'm all alone. They seem put off by the slime, haha. Same 😅 your snails are adorable. I keep some wild snails and own a species of giant African Land Snail (Lissachatina reticulata albino) I got only on the 9th of last July. I think you should totally get a Giant African Land Snail they are amazing pets for people fascinated in snails. Here’s my baby, he’s so cute.

I'd love to have a GAL! I haven't got one yet because I'm not sure if I'll be traveling abroad in the next few months or not, and GALs take a bit more care than my native snails. But I'm definitely going to get some in the future.
Your baby is adorable! His shell is so pretty.
