It's full of mosquitoes now and the only way I can keep them at bay is by using mosquito repellent tablets that are heated in order to release insecticide vapors, most notably transfluthrin. Anybody have any idea if inhalation of these vapors affects snails significantly? I keep my snail's enclosure several meters away from where the air enters or leaves the room so he's not really that exposed, but I'm pretty sure some of it gets in regardless.
Haven't seen anyone talk about what kind of air quality snails need or if they're sensible to certain airborne substances but maybe there's someone that can shed some light.

I'd never heard of Transfluthrin, but I did a bit of googling and came up with this- www.who.int/whopes/quality/Transfluthrin_eval_only_Nov2006.pdf"Field and laboratory tests showed that transfluthrin is of low toxicity to algae, birds and earthworms but it is highly toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates such as daphnia." and this- circabc.europa.eu/sd/a/910c7533-aba6-4a93-87c3-31c5f2b04445/Transfluthrin%20-%20PT18%20%28assessment%20report%20as%20finalised%20on%2013.03.2014%29.pdf"Baygon Mosquito coil One coil is enough for about 40m3 room Burn time approx. 8 hours Mosquitoes (e.g. Culex pipiens pallens, Aedes aegypti) Adult stages controlled Do not use in rooms with aquaria" Snails and fishes reactions to substances are often similar so I would guess that if the snails were to inhale it, it would almost certainly harm them. I don't know how much of it would get into the enclosure, but since one of the reports I've linked seems to suggest it's risky to use it in a room with aquariums, it might be a good idea to err on the side of caution and not use it in the same room as your snails.

Yes I saw that it has a strong impact on aquatic life and made that connection too. I did expose my snail to it a couple of days and it didn't affect him in any discernible way but I made some changes so he won't be exposed in the future to be sure there isn't damage building up that I can't see until the very end. Thank you for your post.
