Like if you place your hand near them they'll willingly move onto your hand? When I try to do this they u-turn away from me lol
I won't try to handle them if they don't like it because the last thing I'd want is for them to be stressed.
So, what do you think?

Yes they do sometimes! They have different "personalities" depending on the single individual, and also I think it can depend from how they were treated by humans too... Explain better, I have several garden snails, and my first one (that was alone for several months at the beginning) in the past especially I played with her a lot, slowly and gently and without bothering her (by placing my finger on her side, and waiting for her to come) , and she is very used to me and my girlfriend and alwyas come to greet me or to play a bit every night when I greet her! Now that she has a lot of friends, she still come to greet every time, but spend less time in "playing" with me...still super sweet!!! I have another instead that also like to crawl in my hands, because she like the taste for what I guessed, and always try to eat the skin and rasp (in fact I dont let her stay so much ahaha)!
Others instead it depends from how much they are used to humans: I recently had hundreds of babies, that I cannot even recognize and I never handle, and they are scared when I go close to them, and often will retract if I try to.. But after you give them some relation, they will become used too (if you treat them kindly: without trying to lift them from their shell, and without making them scared)
So I only suggest you to rinse your hands very well from the soap when you do that, as the soap left after washing, will disturb them very much, and then enjoy the friendship of those little guys!

I agree with all of what daniele said, and I'm going to add one thing: Food. Teach your snails that your hands mean food appears, and with patience and repeats, they'll be a lot more motivated to interact with you. Do things like this: A gentle pat on the shell and food appears in front of them, a piece of food on your finger that's placed near a snail, and finally, food on your palm as you gently pick up the snail. Some snails will figure this out surprisingly fast. Then, when a snail trusts you enough to hold on tightly, you can try misting them on your hand with lukewarm water. Many garden snails do a stretchy upward dance from this. Let us know how it goes!

ahahah yes food will gain their trust even quicker!
I have one guy, who (i think) learned that when I get close to pick her up, means shower time! And she only climbs my hand when she want to take a full shower (instead of a bath in the pools, that she can take by herself)... They can be sooo sweet!!!

Yes! It depends on the snail itself. I have 3 garden snails, and 2 are extremely sassy, and also U-Turn away from my finger/hand. But one of them, LOVES climbing on my hand! Just make sure your hands don't have anything unsafe for them!

As a proud new(ish) snail keeper, I just have to appreciate the wording of "a stretchy upward dance". That's one of my favorite things I've seen them do! They're soooooooo cute, and I have someone bringing me 4 garden snails that needed rehoming *today* so I'm so, so excited to meet them! This thread just made me that much more excited, lol.

Yes, my snail Heavy Weather would actually sit on my hand and let me pet his skin. Of course, he'd flinch if i got too close to his eyes, but other than that he seemed to love it.

I hope I have one that ends up enjoying that, but I'm not going to push them. I haven't had mine very long, but I already have sort of an idea which ones might end up liking that and which ones are more reserved. (Side note - I enjoyed your snail names being included in your signature, and we have some overlap in music taste! )
