Hi! The pic looks totally normal in my opinion, and the puffy mantle after mating is normal too!
I know that they can hold eggs for a quiet long period, when they are not able to find a place to lay that looks good for them...they will choose it very carefully and test some different places before to lay... Is it possible in your opinion that they are not finding a good place? They need to soil to be a bit deep too

How deep i am not sure... I have only garden snails, and some will lay eggs in a depth like the one you have there (as I see those inches should be as 5cm), but some will lay them deeper, still less that 10 cm anyway...
Sometimes the problem may be that they don't like the soil for some reason, instead of depth; I solved by giving them some plants with the vase and everything, but I know it is not an easy solution, since you would need or a lot of space, or to let your snails free in order to reach the plants.. Not so easy I know, but mines never laid in the box!
Since most of the users are able to let their guys lay eggs in the box, let's wait that someone else reply maybe they will have some better solution!
