I see this question pop up a lot on the forums. Q: What's the correct way to manually add calcium to snail food? A: YOU DON'T DO IT. Ever. At all. No sprinkling calcium on top of food. No mixing in calcium in snail mixes. If you do this, you risk making your snail ill! Calcium must be offered separately from food. Snails are very good at regulating their calcium intake and will help themselves to it when they need it, as long as there is a usable permanent calcium source in the tank. Cuttlefish bones work great. It's sold in pet stores. They need to be taken out to dry if they start to stink of fish. Limestone flour works well too. It's sold for horses. You can offer it in little piles on little dishes, or you can use molds to make shapes out of it. Eggshells aren't great, but they're better than not offering any calcium at all. Endives naturally contain calcium as well and will help in an emergency. Sometimes snails will appear to binge on calcium. Their poop will turn white, too. They know what they're doing, don't stop it. Hope this clears up some confusion! If you have any questions, feel free to ask them!

Good post. 🐌 There really is a lot of threads around with people and their snail's damaged shells. 🤕 Hopefully they will take notice of it. 🔍
