Hello everyone. Three months ago, while I was heading home as usual, I came upon a shell clinging to the side of a wall. It was not moving.
Now, as a kid i've played with little creatures and life before in my yard, and snails were one of them. I used to rescue snails from the sidewalks when it started raining, so people couldn't step on them.(Some do)
So because of that, (back to that day 3 months ago) I deduced the shell to be a snail shell. I removed it from the wall and peered inside. There was pretty much nothing. I got one of those spray cans my mom uses for gardening, filled it with cold-ish water and started spraying the shell. (I mean, what else could I have done?) Sure enough, a couple minutes later a garden snail happily crawled out. Taking a fresh piece of lettuce from my fridge and washing it, I placed it next to the snail...
PRESENT DAY (This ain't a movie but..)
George lives with me now. i usually keep him on a diet of fresh lettuce and mixed veggies but I'm actually considering cuttlefish like some people say. His shell is a bit worn out but (idk what happened to him before) I find it hard to locate the cuttlefish. So yeah. Helix Aspersa, George. Remember that now. He's the one.. ahh nevermind he's the only one I have anyway.
Thanks for reading and remember to subscribe and click the notification bell!!!
oops sorry this aint youtube

Calcium is essential for snails, so you should absolutely provide a source of it. And your post tells me that George desperately needs it. Cuttlebone would be perfect for him (maybe you could order some from the Internet?). You can also use limestone flour. Don't use any calcium supplements that contain additives (such as human supplements). I know there are some for birds and lizards that contain salt, so, obviously, they won't do. If nothing else is currently available, you can try clean, dry eggshells, finely ground into a powder. If you use a coffee grinder, it should be very clean with no traces of coffee. Even better if you can get a new one for that; some are pretty cheap. Egg shells are not ideal as a source of calcium, but you should start giving your friend at least something, ASAP. Again, it should be powdered. You can put it near (not onto) George's food, but it would be better to use a separate dish for it. It should always be available for him. He'll eat as much of it as he needs.

Wow thanks for your tips and advice kind sir!! I would also like to ask what is the ideal habitat for a garden snail? I've seen some people put a water dish in there, but i tried that the first day I found George and he doesn't seem to mind much, so I took it away. Should I put one in...?

snailthegeorge, it's not mandatory. Some of my snails love to bath and drink from a shallow dish of water, but not all of them seem to require it. What's much more important is to spray their tank (walls and the underside of cover, especially if George likes to chill upside down) with clean water a few times a day, depending on how fast your snail collects the moisture or how fast it dries on its own, which sometimes depends on the material the tank is made of. Some snail owners say that a water dish helps the general humidity in a tank just by being in there, but I, personally, haven't noticed anything like that.

Yeah. I usually spray the snail 2-3 times a day. Be sure to keep a snail moisturized or it will dry out!
