I have three garden snails - Turtle, June Bug, and Mouse. When I first got them back in October they were super active, but now they seem to just sleep all the time. I think they have been asleep for around a week now. Last time they slept for an excessive period of time I woke them up by misting some water on them, they ate some food but then went right back to sleep.
Their extended sleeping sessions all started around the same time I put a pot in their terrarium because I heard they enjoy sleeping in them. Well, that is not a myth. They really do enjoy sleeping in pots. So much so, it seems to be all they wanna do now lol. They all curl up together in it and I worry they will just sleep forever if I let them. Is that normal snail behavior? I know snails keep weird schedules, but I pay really close attention and I am almost certain they have been asleep for over a week straight now. Should I wake them up again?
I normally feed them an assortment of apples, basil, and cauliflower, and I sprinkle cuttlebone fish powder on their food every few days for some calcium. But maybe they aren't getting enough? I keep trying different things to make them more active, but nothing seems to be working. I thought maybe they were dry, so I have been misting their terrarium even more than I already did (I try to mist in there around 4 times a day). When that didn't make a difference I thought maybe they were cold, so I got a heated pad for their tank, but again that didn't really seem to make a difference. Today I changed the soil in their terrarium from organic top soil to coir, but since they are asleep I have no idea if they're going to like that change or not. I don't know. I'm really just trying everything at this point to make these lil guys happy.
I am gonna get them a bigger terrarium, but if that doesn't work then I am pretty much stumped, so do yall have any ideas?
