Hello!
I am currently living in Madrid, Spain and am interested in buying some snails from the market and keeping them as pets. I'm not sure, but I believe that they would be Roman snails. I am planning on moving to a different country in July and am curious if I would be able to release my snails into the wild when the time comes. I don't want mess up the ecosystem of my local Spanish park.
Thank you for your help!

I would only release them into the wild if they are native to that area. I did a quick check on wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix_pomatia and Spain is not listed, so I wouldn't recommend releasing them.

Pasi9 is right, for what I know there are no Helix pomatia in Spain, and especially in Madrid area I really don't think they can live so well!
On the other hand, if you found them in a local market, they are likely to be local snails, so it's possible that they are not roman snail after all...Do you have any pic in order to identify them?
