Hi, I wonder if snails like to bathe. Mine seem to love it but I saw alot of people saying it stresses them out and that snails dont like it. I just have them in my hand or in the sink and have a tiny bit of lukewarm water running, and they can go under the water whenever they want. It also looks as if they are reaching for the water. So what do you think? Do they like it or not? I also dont do this very often, about three times a week when I clean the tank and change food.

Hi! I think they like it. Just make sure it’s not to warm and your snail is liking it. Depends on what kind of snail you have I guess.

They do like! I give them many water pools, and the first thing they do when they wake up, most of the time is taking a huge bath and relax in the water! Some like also to stay in the water for longer periods: eat while they are bathing if they can reach the food close enough, and sometimes (not often, but they do) they would actually sleep in the pool...This last thing happened not frequently at all, but happens!
What is stressful for them instead, is to be put under the running water without their "consent"; for example what I do usually when one of my guys is too dirty, is to put her close to the running water, so that they can reach if they want, and most of the times they shower themselves happily and meanwhile I can clean them! Sometimes, when they don't wish to take shower but they are too too dirty, so that I really need to wash them, they will get pissed at me! They will make bubbles to show their disapproval, and a looot of slime! Still they will be relaxed and happy again in a few minutes!

Hi Ahmik! Glad to see you back! How are you? Did you decide to get some new snails again? that is nice, hope everything is ok! I am not much active on the forum recently, since the number of my population grew crazily, and I am dividing myself in work and taking care of all those guys (and the lockdown gave me enough time for them).. Soon I will start a new population of giant Helix lucorum in the mountain nearby where I live!

Do you guys bathe them in tap water? I’m concerned about the amount of chlorine in my tap water, but I would like to bathe my snails.

I'm excited to hear you're still keeping snails!! I'm so excited to hear more about the h. lucorum population!!

I'm excited to hear you're still keeping snails!! I'm so excited to hear more about the h. lucorum population!! Ah nice that's very good to hear! And in my opinion Helix pomatia are amongst the more majestic ones, would really like to have some and I think they will give you big satisfaction.. So, I'm eager to see some pics!! Concerning the H. lucorum, I just bought a house in a ski area in the mountain close to where I live; it's in the wood so there are many forest dwelling snails in the "garden", and I'm planning to raise some of them in a semi-wild condition... Mostly I was able to find several H. lucorum shells, as well as several Cepaea nemoralis (or Hortensis im not sure), all dead unfortunately but it is because I only went there once in january (as you know due to this shitty pandemic freedom of movement is a bit limited) so the living ones were surely hibernating and hiding. The lucorum are massive, so I'm really happy to be able to raise them! Here an example My home population is fine instead, one of my guy died in the end of summer, Xiaodu, I tried to save her by staying with her all nights for three months, feeding her with a syringe from which she ahd learned to drink, tried several treatments but the mouth problem was too hard.. That was very painful, but apart from that my other guys are ok, and especially Faitila that is my most beloved one! I have now little more than 100 guys in total (mostly Cornu aspersum, and a few Deroceras slugs) Edit: PS: I don't know if it would be better to move this post to another conversation, as it is totally OT, but I don't know how to do it now, so I ask mod's help if you guys think is necessary to move it!
