Heya! I got my snail, Quinoa, a few weeks ago, and they were doing great, but recently I've noticed they stopped walking around their tank as much and also won't bury themselves, their behavior changed after I switched the substrate from dirt to coconut fibre. Should I change it back to dirt or is this a normal? Oh and they're now just sleeping on the container's lid, and I'm worried whether or not this may cause health issues to them.

Hi, what kind of snail do you have?
I only have Cornu aspersum, and I tried the coconut fiber several times, but they never accepted that. Also I know that for example Cantareus apertus will not like it too, and I think (and I want to underline that is my thought) that it may apply to many Helix species.
Coconut fiber is recommended for GALS, but my Cornu prefer peat or common organic soil..

they probably are getting used to it. if they never accept the coconut fiber you may want to change back to your original substrate or something new.

Coconut fibre is perfectly safe for them. It's quite normal for them to sleep on the lid or up high, to try to protect themselves from predators. I wouldn't be worried if I were you.

They may have some personal tastes though..
