I'll make this post quick and to the point. Can slugs be kept on substrate that isn't earth? I had to do an emergency disposal of all the substrate in my baby slug's tank because I found small worms, which seemed a lot like parasites. Thankfully there were only two of them and I quickly removed my baby slug, and thoroughly cleaned the whole tank and am currently in the midst of humidifying a new batch of clean substrate. I'm worried this might happen again as I put the food directly on the dirt in the terrarium as it is such a small terrarium that there is no place for a dish (since the baby slug is currently less than 1cm long and does not need a big one). Is there anything I can use instead of dirt that could help prevent this happening again? I believe the worms most probably came from a piece of fruit or other. Since the slug is still quite small, and has become one of my protégés, I'd hate for it to get harmed in any way by parasites and the like.

I would get something like coconut fiber and mix it with another type of soil. (Something with no chemicals obviously)

Are you using something from outdoors?? No, I am using dirt bought normally for planting. I made sure it doesn't have any chemicals as well.

Ok, try and mix it with coconut fiber and see if that helps at all. Try not to use anything from our side (if you are). Also, mix the two substrates very well, because the coconut fiber is very powder like and my slugs often get lost in it.
