Hello! I'm a wildlife student from upstate NY who's fairly new to keeping snails. I've been on a wild ride before eventually finding out this forum is still active!
I currently have 9 snails- 2 otala lactea (which I rehomed from a student at my college) 7 Cepaea vindobonensis (who are very special- they're my first snails and still going strong!), And one Euchemotrema (although I'm not sure the species).
Eventually though I'm going to move out of the state and this means none of my snails will be able to come with me to my dream state Maryland (I want to work in the wildlife/fisheries industry). So needless to say, someday I'm going to need some friends that can cross when I move.
However!
I did earlier this year attempt to get a PPQ-526 (I wasn't successful at this) BUT I did get a second letter- a non jurisdiction letter of about 11 species (9 of which aren't listed here) that aren't regulated by the USDA. Some of these are naturalized in the US! There's a few oddballs that don't exist in the US pet trade unfortunately, but putting that aside 5 of the brand new deregulated snails are native/naturalized!
To me this is a big deal and I want this info spread. How do you suggest I handle this? I already blurred the info on a copy of the document, as I'm obviously not giving that out hahaha!
Let me know what you think!
