Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I don’t usually make threads on here, I usually just answer problems, and I haven’t really talked about my newest rescues. I thought I would make a little thread about them though. So, some of you know I have recently started a snail rescue. I contacted a lady, on this forum actually, because she had baby cornu aspersum. I’m now taking care of them for her! There was around 50 starting out, there is now 40. Neither me nor her wanted to cull, because it’s too sad and I think we were both a bit more sensitive to it. So, I came up with a “method,” I guess you could say. Tomorrow I will be separating the runts form the others. From there I will work with the runts, giving the most needy the care that they need. And the most promising, hopefully, a better life. Although, I draw a line if one of the runts is unable to survive and is in awful conditions, I will euthanize. This is tricky to do, as I have to be very attentive to them. Of course I don’t believe in making any animal suffer, that’s why I have to be attentive. If most of the runts are unhealthy I may have to euthanize them all. I do understand though, that others cull because a majority of the time runts just won’t survive (and for other reasons of course.) I completely understand this, but I often feel that there is so much more we can do. That’s why I’m trying to do this, trying to maybe help just one runt. I can’t save every snails, but surely I can save the world for that one snail. Other then that, the babies are doing wonderful and growing rapidly! I hope you all enjoyed reading about my newest rescue. I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks and have a great day or night!

I think its a lovely idea to keep the less deformed runts in a separate tank so they can live a decent life with enough TLC. It's great to hear you managed to get the snabies!!
