Dear all I am writing this post on behalf of my friend and their wild caught snail whom has had a couple of symptoms that we're not quite sure what are. I will give some background before I explain the issue itself. The snail was caught in August 2021 after my friend found it with a heavily damaged shell with white patches, and took it in to help aid it back to health with calcium. This was a fab growth and improvement and the snail has been healthy going forward. We do not know its age, but since it has laid 3 clutches of eggs, it is at least a mature adult. - The first issue that came to light was the sudden presence of tiny, transparant worms in the enclosure. This started in December the same year.
They would primarily show themselves in his mucus and not in poop, and it was not clear what the cause was. They were able to help get rid of the worms by keeping the snail in a separate enclosure and changing out food/soil every day. It was the only method I knew to advise them, as giving deworming foods did not seem to work.

- The second issue was the sudden swelling of the eyestalks and blue hue. This is still ongoing, and it seems to show up sporadically and then disappear again. The snail is otherwise in good health and does not have any other signs of health problems.

Does anyone know if these two symptoms are connected and what it may be? And if yes, any treatments? Kind regards, Heike
