When I first got goblin (or gabbie), she was nearly mature, but her lip looked a little damaged. I thought that if I fed her enough calcium and was gentle with her, it would be a problem that would solve itself, but in the past week I've been getting a little worried. Her shell has finally grown a little more, but the new growth looks dark (almost black) and a little flaky and delicate looking in areas. I'm holding out hope that she's only growing this way because of her damaged lip, and just needs a little extra time, but I'm worried this may actually be a bigger problem.
Her behaviour is completely normal, she moves around and eats like nobody's business, and remains ever friendly and active.
Is she okay? Is there anything else I should be doing to help her here?
I can't figure out how to add pictures to this thing, but once I do, I'll show her shell:(
edit: thanks for letting me know how to add pictures before:

Hello! Sorry to hear about Gabbie, you can add pictures by posting them to imgurr or some other image sharing site, then linking the image here. That would help alot to assess what the problem could be. It sounds ok to be honestly, a darker colour is likely from the sudden change in conditions from outside and in your house (flakiness can calso be caused by this) , and new growth will typically be thinner and more delicate for a while til it hardens up. If the flakiness and delicate growth goes on for a while without fixing itself there could be something wrong with your husbandry. If she is still acting normal I wouldn't be too worried.
By the way, how are you feeding calcium and in what form? Bare in mind cuttlefish and calcium carbonate powder are preferable sources for snails and they should always have it available somewhere in their tank, separate from their food.

I feed them calcium from cuttlefish bone mostly, but sometimes egg shell too. You really think there's nothing to worry about? Thank you for letting me know how to add pictures

I don't want to alarm you, but I've just looked at the pictures and that does not look like new shell growth to me. It looks more like a mantle tear.
I'm not super experienced with mantle tearing/collapsing so I'm hoping someone else might come in and confirm this if this is the case?

Hi, terribly sorry for my late reply. Yes, I was wrong, that is unfortunately a mantle collapse. I hadn't realised the new growth you described wasn't part of the shell and was actually the mantle. The most humane thing to do would be to put them down, if not sadly the snail will eventually suffocate as their lung function depends on being connected to the shell and in mantle collapse the quite opposite happens. I'm very sorry.
