got two giant african land snails from this craigslist type of site about 2 weeks ago. When I got them, they where in soil, and I immediately changed them into coconut substrate. Today I noticed something odd; tiny (about 5mm long) almost translucent worms on my snails. Im freaking out, and worried that I might have cross contaminated them into my other two snails.
I googled it, and some said it could be nematoids that live in the soil the snails used to be in. Im worried it might be a parasite. How do I deworm them? I gave them sweet pepper as I read somewhere that deworms them. The only thing is, I have seen them eat like three times since they got here, and only a few bites. They have no appetite. They are not active, and dont really come out of their shells often, maybe every three or four days.
When I get my new tank ready, I will transfer them there where I will once again change the substrate. What can I do, and what are they? Please help.

Hello! Congrats on the new snails. There are often little nematode creatures in your snail tank that you can’t do much about. If you think these worms are harming your snails, I would suggest changing out half your substrate, cleaning your entire tank with warm water, and then replacing all the food. When you replace the food, replace the food with peppers, and pumpkin seeds. Both of those foods are known to help deworm snails. You can even get a deworming mix on Etsy that you can feed your snails if that interests you any. There are some cases where you can put snails in a VERY clean environment for a day, do the deworming treatment, and see if the worms are still alive. However I don’t think that is necessary. Let me know if this was helpful! I will add some links with helpful information tonight.

I got rid of them by changing the substrate and steam cleaning the tanks. I also got isopods and springtails, and have not seen a single one since😁
