imgur.com/a/GXpd3eQHello Snail Forum πβ€π These two images look worse than in real life however...I have two happy enough snails but the one in the image stuck to the glass has specks of darker colouring on its belly. He is fully functional though from what I've observed. The snail in the other image, well he hibernates quite often, has low body mass for the size of his shell, the base of his foot is basically pale red (he closes up like this when I try to inspect) the "tail" end tip of his foot (0.5cm of it) seems to have lost function and he hardly has any traction/suction to move vertically. He chills on a diagonal piece of bark and always returns to it after a small wander to get food or water. I am prepared to care for him if he is disabled but I'd like to know if anybody can provide knowledge as to what has occured with them both. I have 6 helix aspersas in total, they have been with me for 9 months, the other 4 are super healthy looking and they are cared for under the special guidelines provided here by snail lovers and enthusiasts. I just love my little mates...please may I bother you all for some information? Peace, mm

For the snail that has darker specks under it, that is most likely just substrate. For the weaker snail, it sounds like a typical, frail, old snail. Just continue to treat it well and it should live the best it can for an oldtimer.

Other forums jump to encourage culling at the first sign of anything which I hate. We should treat them like any other pet, with love, and give them the best life possible regardless of their size or appearance. Anyways donβt mean to hijack the thread, just wanted to say that <3
