There are African sellers who can get you various species. Just look at RIverZooFarm. And they supposedly do cash on delivery!
But me and Fiona tried to organise tigers through them and they were odd. They claimed they had the species we wanted. When Pili Palas tried to order they didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
Of course, they'll only deal with licence holders. But...if you can find someone who is willing to import them for you, you may have a chance. There must be other sellers also.
From what Yuri told me, he just waited until online shops sold them. He said every so often, perhaps only once a year, an unusual species becomes available, probably more by accident than design. So you just have to keep checking the web I suppose.

I brought some WC Achatina dimidiata from South Africa a couple of years ago. I beleive I was one of few with this specie back then. I still have my contact left in South Africa. But as I said in an earlier thread, the freight is very high. The positive side is that most animals sent by airfreight are alive upon arrival... Best wishes Fredrik PS. If you try really hard, you might convince me to reopen my business DS.

Mike, if you look on the River zoo farm page, there is a load of stuff about trade accounts and licence holders as I remember. I think in our case we wouldn't need them, but it sounded like they wouldn't do business with anyone who doesn't have various permits. Perhaps it is just businesses only. Anyway, I remember us having to get Pili Palas involved on our behalf. riverzoofarm.com/import.htm

Paul I was reading through riverzoofarm pages the other day and thought oh no you need all licenses and stuff, but that seems to be for larger animals. On the insect page it says "After many people requesting live and dry invertebrates we now offer these for sale to both dealers and collectors" I have emailed them, with no reply as yet. I tried the phone number and it said switched off, won't be trying it again though after checking with BT its almost £3 per minute Fingers crossed for a reply to my email lol. I have enquired about pretty much all species we don't curently have. Nat

I have a small pet-shop, specialized in rare and exotic arthropods, but it's resting as I'm sicklisted.
The supplier in South Africa didn't require a minimum order when I had my business running.

Nat, in order for them to collect "our" most wanted species, they still need someone located at situ to make the proper id...

My aunt and uncle are going to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana for three months from the (very) start of next year. Is there anything they could do, legally or otherwise, for bringing back snails? They don't really know how to take care of snails but I could train them up if there was something they could do.

What if they were to pack aload of tubs and boxes and tape (flat packed) and send them back to you Not sure how legal this is from africa, will they have internet access over there, to show you photos and you can say yes or no? Wow how lucky are they! Nat
