Not all folks use usernames for fun, for example, if my daughter was online, I wouldn't let her use her real name. Just like I wouldn't hand out my phone number or post my address on a public forum. I dont see why you couldn't just use their username, or initials (eg. when my chat nick was LunarQueen, people called me LQ - hence it sticking now lol). People shouldn't have to share their names if they dont want to.
Is it really that important? Why cant you just read take the, oooh...two seconds longer to type out their username? ;D

Ok no more arguing! I guess this has been settled now...It isn't important. I do agree with you Sarah, but I just like using this name, sonicsnail. Likewise others may feel the same, they like using other names instead of their real name.

That's a fair comment, aliases it is then. We'll just leave it to personal preference, at the end of the day it doesn't really matter does it. I'd just suggest everyone stick with whatever they choose, because it is changing ones that are confusing.

I think as long as people respond to thier usernames, there is no need for people to add their real name of they do not wish. and it may mean you need to remember two different names for each person. BUT it would be easier if you are posting snails to people as the address should contain thier real name ( but it doesn't have to!?). and sometimes confusing for the gender- but real names arn't always gender specific anyway.
several sides to this coin me-thinks ta, pixie aka Jo
