I was wondering if it would be a good idea to split the classifields thread into two sections? One for those selling snails, and one for those looking for something imparticular. It's a bit of a jumble at the moment, or you could have separate threads for each species (like the pictures thread). It's just that now you have to search through a whole lot of threads if your looking for something specific and it would be easier if you could see clearly what was being sold/ what people are looking for.

There was a conversation on this already, people thought there was no point, because you can see it there, whats for sale and whats wanted

oh I missed that, lol. It's just that so often I see someone looking for fulica, for example, and then a few threads down someones selling them. I think people post on there without bothering to really look first.

What would help is a format for posts.
ie subject title should always start FOR SALE - species name? item? and for wanted ads, WANTED - species name item etc?
And if theres many of said item for sale, if the initial postee could edit thier first post to say when all are sold? Or likewise if its a wanted ad, edit to say they have found what they wanted.... would make the classifieds less cluttered.
Maybe some housekeeping in general, deleting ads which are longer than 2 weeks old, unless the poster updates his post to say some are still remaining.

I do think its a good idea to split the classifieds section in a wanted and for sale section, like Leah said it makes things easier. Also I agree with Copigeon that sellers should update their threads,ie remove them when all snails are sold. And tbh I don't see any point members posting saying that they sent the seller a PM,but thats just my opinion.

I agree old posts should be deleted when the seller states they are all sold, because we get new members coming on and leaving messeges for posts that are months old because thye don't look at the dates, also i agree that people shouldn't say pm'd you because if someone is selling say 5 snails and one person puts pm'd you, then no one knows whether that person has bought all or one of them. An annoying thing is, well i find annoying anyway is that people don't have full control over their OWN threads like Leah wouldn't be able to delete this one she would have to ask and i don't think thats right because its their own thread, i mean you can delete your own posts but not your own threads, why is this?? It may help if something like this was done, as sellers would be able to delete their threads when the snails are sold...

Well, if anyone could delete thier own thread it might remove valuable information If I posted a thread about.. snails eating meal worms, and a very important bit of info was posted by someone else in that thread... but I was moody and decided I didnt want a record of that days events. I could remove it.... would be to the detriment of the forum but its my thread? Its enough to modify the first post and just say "all gone" because that at least prevents people resurrecting old threads just incase? they can clearly see on the very first post, its over Just needs to be more standardisation of classifieds hmm.

It's a moot point anyway, I can't make proboards change their policy so I agree that better thread titles would be much better, in theory. Trying to get everyone to stick to a standard is another matter.
I don't have any plans to develop this section as I don't think it belongs on the forum really because I don't think forums are particularly useful for this kind of thing. It'd be so much better to have a proper classified section, the forum section is really a temporary area for now.

Yeah, I made the suggestion before. We agreed that there didn't really need to be two sections. Oh well ... aye.
