It's been mentionned on Eric's parcel thread, but thought I'd bring it to your attention too Paul in case you hadn't read it.
I was wondering, and I think there's some other folks who agree, is it at all possible to ban the guest posters - even if only for a temporary thing?
All this business with that dodgy family repeatedly returning and causing grief and trolling/ripping people off, and also Spud on Eric's thread, not to mention the porn/drugs bots - it's just ruining the site at the moment. It's got really quiet lately, and I know part of my reason for not posting much lately has been because of all the grief that certain family were causing.
If it's not an option I totally understand, but I'm sure I'm not the only person sick of the trolls and their childish behaviour lately - and removing their posts and telling them to go isn't getting through to them - they're still coming back time and time again. And the alien text porn/drugs bots are annoying too lol.
Pretty please? I know I was all for keeping guest posters last time this was raised, but I'm sick of it now - and I doubt I'm the only one...

They're continuously bumping up really old threads to add really unimportant replies too, pleeeeeease can the mods have a think about it?
I mean it must be frustrating for the mods too as they cant pm them to have a word because they're just guests!

need to be honest I totally agree with you but I think I am in the minority with regards to the mods. I will mention it again and see what comes back.

Completely understand Brian, as the positive benefits of guest posting usually outweigh the negs, it's just the recent spate of spam and guest trolls have tipped the balance somewhat. Let's hope that it stops soon, then we can continue to have guest status available, yet with none of the unpleasant posts

I mentioned this in Eric's thread before it was moved/deleted, I agree guests shouldnt be allowed to post, I hardly see any guest postings that are relevent, useful, or a case that someone cant sign in and is asking for help, its usually just irrelevent stuff being posted, maybe by people who cant be bothered to join up, or people who'd rather moan at someone or post insults directed at them as a guest, as their too scared to do it while signed in maybe?

petsnails.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&n=1&thread=672Spud's back - please can we stop guest posting if only temporarily til he goes back to school or something? I thought of a good idea - well I think it is, whether it is actually a good idea or not is up to you guys lol. Why not make an email address for the mods, so that if someone has problems logging in, they can email instead of using guest poster status? We could have it in big letters at the top of the forum in the welcome text up there ^ If you made it a mass email that emailed all the mods, it wouldn't be targetting one specific mod or Paul, and then there'd be more chance of a mod being available to help. Then I couldn't see any real reason why to have guest poster status at all - if the only real reason is because someone cant log in, they could email the mods and sort it out that way?

Incidentally, there's someone posting parrot eggs (hmm funny looking snails those parrots, eh?) on the classifieds board...
