Today I find this species (Cepaea nemoralis) on wall of my house (outside) and he was hiden in close to vaze for flowers. Shell was close with fine dry slime and I put him in my terarium but he didn't 'wake up' yet?! I see he is alive but and I see hole for breathing but maby he is to much dry ...I don't now..maby wil go out from shell when will be darker. Can anyone tell me what fod they like and alse about this species. Does he love more dry or wet terarium? Do you think I can keep him? He is very nice snail but I hope he will be ok when he take some bite of salad ? Thank you !

He needs his home to be damp but not too wet, damp substrate and sprayed everyday, he will eat the same foods as other snails, fruit and veg.... If you dip him in some water or spray him he should come out

I'm sure hes fine, if you saw him moving that proves he is alive, he will close his breathing hole when you spray him so don't worry about water getting in there, its only if he is submerged in water for too long and then he needs to take a breath that it could be fatal. Some snails will sleep like that for 6 months!!! i'm sure you will find he has moved and even eaten in the morning

Hi Sarah! I put snail back to nature because I think he will be happy in garden where I find him but day after I was working in my garden and I saw in one small tree another 3 snails - the same species but one was yellow, one orange and another one was also orange with stripes. Oh...they are so lovely And I take them in my terarium so I can injoy with them..watch them...One (with black stripes) was special...he doesn't afraid of me so he 'walking' on my hand and looking like he say to me...where I am? So yesterday I put them back on the same tree..it was raining outside and tow helix pomatia was searching in grass for food so I put one leaf of green salad so both eat . I saw that snails like rain. Oh...I love snails so much Thay are so cute creatures...don't you think that? I'm sorry for my bad english By Sarah Oh..I almost forget...If I can only find baby of helix pomatia I will keep them like pet but I don't want to take grown snail from nature..what you think about that?
