I keep reading about how the substrate should be a few inches deep so that the snail can burrow, so the soil in my tank is at least 5inches at one side, but my snail seems to spend more time on the side of the tank.
I even tried changing the type of soil, but he still sticks to the surface. - i have checked and there's no fertiliser in the soil.
Should I worry or is it normal that some snails just don't burrow? Erica

Some of my snails don't burrow I think it's just a personal preference each snail may have. When my Fulicas burrow I know I'm gonna have to dig eggs out for the freezer.

Babies and juveniles burrow in here, but the adults don´t. Little ones hiding daytime under substrate and come out when is evening.

That depends here on breeds and age of snailies. Every adult snaily here don´t burrows here usually. Only for giving eggs. Only the ventricosa are burrowing over the day and come out every evening.
Babies are all burrowing here to about a size of 8 to 10cm (depends on breed). Then they stay more and more out of the substrate on the days too.
Limicolarias are having phases where they are burrowing for several weeks without coming out for eating. Lignus never have stayed burrowed here. Only for an hour or so for giving eggs and then they come straight up the branches again.
