Well strangely, the one that has died didn't seem to have any colour at all on the columella, and quite honestly the other one looked so good I didn't want to risk stressing him or anything by picking him up so I actully don't know at the moment. At least he is alive!!!!

Oh Val, I am so sorry, have you tried to bath him warm? If he just sleeps in a very weird way he will for sure come out in a warm baths. The only one good thing is, that they will send another one for you.
Kind regards,
Gabi

Sorry to hear that , he was a lovely snail. Well strangely, the one that has died didn't seem to have any colour at all on the columella He must be an Archachatina marginata var. marginata then.

well i shouldn't think the other one is var. marginata they look quite different, sometimes they only have a tint of colour and you have to push the mantle back quite far, but no worries, i suppose it's not that important now hes...erm...past on :-(

Oh I am so sorry Val, that's so sad. May be even big snail cannot really survive in the cold weather. Too much stress.

Val, does he look like this or similiar? This is my weird fulica rodatzii. He is always sleeping in this way and most times he is laying on his back and then his mantle is drying out and looks so shocking. This is an photo I just made to show you:

Yes, he does look kind of like that but much more of him is hanging out of the shell, the mantle is closed together exactly like that and it looks dry now.

Well I looked in this morning and.............he has MOVED!!!!! Not much, he has just retracted a little bit so he isn't going the right way and tbh I think he is actually dying, but you just never know it quite made my day, after all as they say where there is life there is hope!!! He hasn't moved again since just stayed like that all day.

Come on margie wake up!! Maybe he's just really shaken from the journey. Some do better than others with the cold and being posted. *Is keeping everything crossed for all the dimis anyway, so adds the margie to the list* lol

I'd definitely try a warm bath - I had to give my margie Boycie one, and it worked a treat I'll be keeping fingers toes arms and legs crossed that he perks up and is back to health in no time

Val, that are great news! I am sure he is better soon!. Give him every day a warm bath for a few days now and when he is coming out offer him apple, pear or zuchini (That´s what my margies all love to eat). Keep his substrate extra wet and warm and I am sure he will be sliming around soon!

I hope he gets better val, maybe its just the initial stress of being sent in the cold. make sure you keep him warm.

Just a little update for all my pals who are keeping their fingers crossed. When I first got these margies on Tuesday I gave both of them a nice warm bath and the first one came out within about 10 minutes, and I was even able to get some good pics of him, the second one never came out at all even after bathing. My gut feeling now is to just leave him alone, he is in a nice damp spot and nice and warm so I think I will just let him be, he hasn't moved anymore unfortunately.
