My cuttlebones don´t taste salty ;D Why I know this? I once mixed it to powder and put it in a jar and same time I mixed some parmesan for pasta too and somehow than during my midday-stress I mixed both boxes up and powdered some cuttlefish over my pasta.... Me personally believes that a snails won´t eat from any too salty things.

Most food contains salt and snails do require salt to survive like most animals. They can eat small quantities but too much starts to dissolve their bodies, particularly externally.
