I have been reading through the varieties of foods given and i too want to experiment more but just need some clarification please..............
would the mince/chicken be cooked? the bread soaked in water? all the hard veg like sweet potatoe, corn on the cob etc cooked and left to cool first? and finally the likes of hemp, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds...do you give it them whole or crush them up first?
i 'm sorry if these are silly questions but i just wondered....lol ;D

It says on the main site that raw food has a higher nutritional value. But I'm not sure if the meat can be fed raw. I know some people on here have used meat so maybe they can help. Some people soak the bread others just make it damp. I think the main veg people cook first is potato, but I think the rest are given raw. Not sure though sorry lol I buy hemp already crushed, I just make it into a paste and make sure all the water is soaked up. Sunflower and pumpkin seeds they have whole though. The ones I have are already de-shelled, but I know some people leave the shells on them. It just depends on how your snails like it really lol you have to experiment and see!

Personally I never cook any veggies I give to my snails, this will make them last longer. I've never given them any meat, knowing my snails they probably won't eat it anyway lol

If you want to give them chicken you have to cook it first and let it cool.
i dont cook any of my vegetables.
and they dont mind dry bread.

While we are on this topic...About the bread, what about the possible salt content in it?

Oh was coming on to ask about bread and got beaten to it. I just gave mine some crusts of whole meal and they lapped it up especially the margies, one of which eats less than i would like, after finsihing the bread crusts she carried on eating the mango, greens and strawberries next to it, i was thrilled. Even think the feast may have prompted her to finally mate but cant be sure. Was just gonig to check if i should limit the amount of bread i let them have as it isnt a natural food so how good can it be?? Ive never tried meat but can imagine it being quite unpleasant to clean up after!

Oh was coming on to ask about bread and got beaten to it. Hehe... Anyway, I'm going to give mine some brown bread tonight. Is brown bread ok? It does say salt content of 1.0g per slice, or something like that. Is that too much salt?

I always follow the rule that when something tastes salty its too salty for snails.

Thanks Arno. However, some bread doesn't taste salty but it may have too much salt for snails? I'll see, but I don't think they would eat it if it's too salty, or would they?

I always wash lettuce in salt water to clean off any pests or eggs, but I'm careful to rinse it throughly afterwards. Anyone else do that?
