I was just wondering what people found their snails really liked to eat.
Mine will have a chomp on most things but they love their spinach, lettuce (only the soft ones, not iceberg) and cucumber. They don't seem to like anything like oranges and seem to think cabbage is just for sleeping under. They like porridge too but they splatter it all over the place and leave trails everywhere which doesn't look too great.
Its funny I gave them tomato and green peppers yesterday which they used to have now and again and weren't really into, but having not had it for a while they went at it like mad. I think they probably appreciate a bit of variety.
What do your snails really enjoy?

I agree that a wide variety is definitely the key to long term interest but I have noticed some snails will always eat their favourite. A few species seemed only to want one particular type of food but I solved this problem. I withheld food for 2 days longer than usual, I normally feed every day, and then fed them a choice of 2 alternatives. Strangely enough they ate them both and now seem quite happy to eat them, they'll even eat some when their favourite is there. I think sometimes, we worry so much about them eating, we resort to giving them their favourites at the first sign of them turning their nose up at a new food. I think snails are much more open to variety as babies so wild snails or ones fed limited/unsual diets need to be encouraged a little to try new things. As we know snails can go weeks and weeks without food, so I think 2 days is worth it to improve their diets in the long-term.
My snails' favourite at the moment is definitely mango, something I don't feed every week, just occasionally so that supports what you say. Last week I gave them tangerines and they loved that, normally they're not that interested but it's been a while since they last saw some.
They'll always eat hemp, pumpkin, porridge, sweet potato, sweetcorn, cucumber, lettuce, banana and apple with usually an exception for each species.
I think most harder veg like peppers etc. are preferred when they are soft from some cooking or starting to decompose. Although that doesn't stop them with sweet potato.
