Its a fully-featured open-source paint package. Which means it is completely free. I use it all the time and all my website was designed in it. Check it out.

I'm working on 2 logo ideas at the moment. One is graphical and I haven't got anything ready yet but my second was intended to be the following over a faded background design. G A S S O T C I N T E R N A T I O N A L O E P T O Y D
I just like the symmetry. Boy did I have a hard time getting it to look correct here

Just a note of warning, so far all the pictures have been in 72dpi.
So, for instance, Nat your pictures are about 450 pixels wide. At 300 dpi that means they will only be 1.5 inches long. To make them bigger will involve stretching them and they will look blocky.
So far Ceirons and Leahs have been the closest size to what we need. There's have been 1280 pixels which is about 4.25 inches.
So, if you don't get the DPI thing, just do it this way. Choose the size of the image you want in inches. I think we need at least 6x6 inches. Then multiply each dimension by 300 to get the required size in pixels. So a 6inch x 6inch picture would be 1800x1800 pixels.
I can't stress how important this is, I've been doing this kind of things for years and we'll come unstuck if it is ignored. Also, I really want to save you all time so you needn't re-do the logo.
One last thing to mention, if you use other pictures, make sure they are very large. A 400 pixel internet picture is only gonna be 1.3 inches long and you may find you can't get the pics you want big enough, so that to make a proper master image will be impossible.
This is a good rule to follow for any image that may be used for things other than on the web. So logos, letterheads, posters and anything that may be printed.

One other important point to mention here.
There are disdvantages to having a picture/photo intensive logo rather than a monogram type. Imagine it printed at about 1-2 inches in size on paper for a letterhead etc. Will it still be clear and readable?
Worth thinking about.

Ceiron, I've downloaded it and it isn't 300dpi.
Your paint package may have fiddled with it somehow. Anyway, dpi doesn't matter coz its purely threoretical, but size does.
I went down the dpi route coz I figured that by setting a new image to 300dpi, you can then select the size in inches or cm and it will be correct for printing.

Ok, here is a rough mock up of my design. I'll do it properly if it gets voted for coz at the moment it is crude and uneven:

Nat, it doesn't matter really as long as the picture are huge.
I'd use my inches method. Decide how big you want the picture in inches and multiply each side by 300. That'll tell you how big in pixels.
