As some people here are also interested in slugs, I would purpose: International Gastropod Society...

as long as i know there is at least one other person in the world who is as "weird" "crazy" "strange" and "freaky" as i am in societys views for liking snails, i'm happy. ;p

Yes, but to be honest, it is a bit sad that not more people are interested.

I agree, Vida. But perhaps they think it might be too scholarly for them? After all, someone who loves dogs, for example, doesn't necessarily want or need to know complex issues such as genetics the way a breeder would need to.

I'm actually pretty pleased with the number of people that voted, all that showed an interest have voted. It seems that,as has been democratically decided, the name will be International Snail Society. Even though I voted for a different name I've no problems with this one.

Yes, but to be honest, it is a bit sad that not more people are interested. To be honest I´m not too worried about voting numbers, they are done solely to choose the name. I would be worried though, if the project would die without anyone partcipations, ideas, projects and effective work on that. Resuming it, with no results. At this stage it looks promising. However, maybe this project would need more advertisement on the near future, to gather more participants. Here in Portugal, the Malacological Society only started now, with few but good people. They have been doing really nice progess on it. Maybe I´ll invite some to participate on our project!

Hi Coyote I don´t want to sound harsh, but it was already stated previously, that each participant would give his contribution on whatever he/she wants and can.

Thought it sounded good! I´m just bit worried about those who want to include slugs, and they aren´t that few. I know that the name of the society would sound a bit freak with « gastropod» but maybe that would be for a fair reason. Well, changing the way ;D, can we include slugs on the project even when the name tells « snail society»? Tell me you all, your opinion, please. Thanks.

I also would vote for International Gastropod Society, as this covers snails as well as slugs, and besides it sounds better.

I don't see why we can't include slugs as well.... The International Snail & Slug Society!! because then you might as well call it the Gastropd Society. I can't believe people are voting for 'snail' instead because it's slighlty more simple. It's really patronising and it's not inclusive. Still, everyone's entitled to thier vote...

I'll keep this open till tonight but if things don't change I suggest we continue with the name International Gastropod Society.

Hi Coyote I don´t want to sound harsh, but it was already stated previously, that each participant would give his contribution on whatever he/she wants and can. Yes, I've read that part. But not everyone here has read it and might be unaware of that. I was trying to look at it from someone else's point of view. But I guess if they haven't followed this discussion very closely they might not have enough interest in something such as the Society to begin with. *shrugs*
